General Clip information

Low Light Clips - these clips attempt to demonstrate one of the HC90's strong points - low light shooting ability. In my opinion, this camcorder produces great color and clarity in dim light. See for yourself.

Telemacro and Close-up Clips - Because the HC90 has a large CCD, it's close-up capabilities are very strong. Here are a couple of clips to demonstrate.

Nighttime & Nightshot Clips - This set of clips demonstrate the HC90's abilities to shoot video in very little or no light.

Uncompressed AVI files - OK, guys. You asked for some "uncompressed" clips of the HC90 in action. Well, here's a start. Let me just mention that the video looks better playing through my television as opposed to running through the computer (it's as if compressed video was made for computers). If you don't mind the "wait," here's a clip (more to come).

HC90 Video Clips Page
We've tried to add a variety of clips to the site, so the page needed to change. Each clip has been separated into a category. The general categories are Low Light, Bright Light, Audio,

Low Light Clips

Lowlight Clip Scene (Quicktime 10meg) - here's a clip from Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Walt Disney World. This is a very dark stage with mostly blacklighting. The colors come through pretty well.

Fantasmic Lowlight Clip (Quicktime 14meg) - This clip comes from the live show "Fantasmic" from Disney's MGM studios. Most impressive of all is the movie screen they make with water.

Fantasmic Lowlight Clip (Windows Media version 5meg)

Fantasmic Clip 2 (Quicktime 10meg) - combines a waterfall movie screen with large waves of splashing water & fireworks. Nice lowlight action clip.

Clip 1 - Low Light Indoor (Quicktime 18meg) - here's a clip from a bowling alley. Fairly dark in here with most of the lighting on the lanes. All settings are on AUTO.

Clip 1 - Low Light Indoors (Windows Media 4meg) Compressed version of above clip

Clip 2 - Low Light Outdoor (Quicktime 12meg) - This clip was taken at about 7:30pm. Shows the sun shining over some low clouds (taken from our tennis club). Automatic settings.

Low Light - Outdoors (Windows Media 5meg) A compressed version of above clip.

Clip 1 - Very Low Light Outdoor (Quicktime 16meg) - this shot was taken at about 11pm. The only source of light is a small lamp on one end of the pool. Notice how the autofocus stays locked on despite the lack of lighting.

Clip 1 - Very Low Light Outdoor (Windows Media 1.8 meg) Compressed version of above clip.

Clip 1 - Distant lighting, dim (Quicktime 13meg) - the light is coming from the dining area which casts a decent amount of light into the living room (but not much).

Clip 2 - No lights filming into lighted room (Quicktime 4meg) - the laundry room is the only source of light here.

Clip 3 - very dark with and without nightshot (Quicktime 4meg) - a quick switch from almost no light to using nightshot mode.

Clip 4 - Single low-watt lamp (Quicktime 8meg) - the floor lamp is the only light source in this clip.

Clip 5 - Two low-watt lamps (Quicktime 17meg) - this time, both floor lamps are used.

Clip 1 - Color Slow Shutter Outdoor (Quicktime 5meg) - I've seen the slow shutter feature on quite a few cameras. Typically you get the super-choppy video. The HC90's slow shutter is actually pretty functional. Here's a clip of the pool (again) that has lots of small movements in it (which should really make the video too choppy to see, but it isn't bad)
Telemacro and Close-up Clips

Closeup Video 1 (Quicktime 6meg) Zoom-in shot of our goofy cat (who likes sitting on my desk). This was using a small lamp with a 60W bulb.

Closeup and Telemacro Clip (Windows Media 4meg) - I took this outside at about 2pm. The bee in this clip is VERY small. Those big green things are blades of grass! The first part is using the zoom only. 2nd part uses the Telemacro function.

Bright Sunshine/Lighting Clips
Clip 1 - Color Clip (Quicktime 21meg) - Here's a new clip that shows off the HC90s capabilities. All settings on auto.

Clip 1 - Bright Outdoor (Windows Media 5.0 meg, compressed) - I figured it'd be good to see how the camera handles extremely bright light. This clip was taken on our tennis court at about 1:00pm (direct sunlight). We live in GA, so it was really hot and really bright.

Clip 1 - Color Clip (Windows Media 2.5 meg, compressed) - This clip was taken at Islands of Adventure using a neutral density filter. The colors come through clearly.

Clip 1 - Color Clip (Quicktime version, 14meg)

Clip 2 - (Quicktime 14meg) Here's another clip that demonstrates the color capabilities of the HC90 (Hulk roller coaster).

Clip 2 - (Windows Media 5meg)

Uncompressed Clips
Uncompressed Clip 1 (Right-click and save - over 30meg, AVI) - quick clip taken at Toon Lagoon in Islands of Adventure - 10 seconds. Best viewed with Windows Media Player or DivX player.
Audio Clips

Audio Clip 1 (Quicktime 1meg ) - this clip is intended to show what the camcorder sounds like in a very quiet setting.

Audio Clip 2 (Quicktime 4meg) - this clip is similar to the above, but demonstrates the camera in telemacro mode - which is when I've noticed a slight buzz-sound in the past.

Audio Clip 3 (Quicktime 22meg) - this clip is from a musical stage show at Disney - meant to show how the camcorder records live sound.

Audio Clip 4 (Windows Media 6meg) - smaller, compressed version of above clip.

Audio Clip 5 (Quicktime 45meg) - large file, but one of the Blues Brother show at Universal.

Progressive-mode Clips

We'll be posting some (new) progressive-mode (30P) clips very soon. Stay tuned.
